Wood Masters Company Profile

Over the last forty years, Wood Masters has grown to represent New Zealand’s unique cultural heritage.
We have successfully combined Whakairo (the Art of Maori Carving) with fine European  craftsmanship. The locally trained carvers, using traditional techniques, work alongside other expert woodworkers with different technical skills. New technology is employed to complement the ancient hand skills of the carver to craft a wide range of ideas from wood.

The company's extensive range includes:

• traditional Maori souvenirs

• 21st keys

• trophies

• custommade pieces

• decorative woodwork

• turnery and timber machining.

Change and Adaptation
The ability to initiate and to respond to change has contributed to the continued success of this family-run business. New products are introduced to the range and existing items are modified and adapted where possible to satisfy customer needs without compromising the authenticity of the Maori design.

Experience and Craftsmanship
The company's wide range of experience and quality of craftsmanship has also led to their work on a wide range of heritage building restoration projects. The success of these projects and pride in their products have contributed to Wood Masters' excellent reputation in their growing markets both within New Zealand and overseas.

Renewable Resources
Concern for the environment and sense of Kaitiakitanga (stewardship) continues to guide the careful selection of renewable timbers from sustainably managed forests and the handling of  waste products.
